It doesn't make sense to ship lumber from far away when lumber cut from local sources is most of the time just as good if not better.
That is why I put together the barn plans library so that people could use local lumber from local sources to build their barns with. But this requires local sawyers and builders to help people get what they need.

I had just been through my worst year ever as a barn wood reclamation company. We tore old barns down and recycled and sold the lumber from those barns. Reclaimed lumber was and is more of a luxury product and when the economy turned south in 2008, the reclaimed lumber industry took a big hit. People didn't have as much disposable income for fancy things like reclaimed lumber anymore.
Then along came an opportunity to create post and beam barns. 

 Post and Beam Barns are still a premium product, but not quite as exclusive as reclaimed lumber. That opened up a much broader market and we have been growing as a company ever since!
Not very many companies can start up during an economic downturn and not only survive, but thrive! I knew when this thing took off that if we made it through a tough economy then This Business would be able to provide my family and I a comfortable income for the rest of my life.
